Information we collect

We collect information you give us, information we receive from your use of the service, and information from the service providers that run parts of Creator Embassy.

• Account and sign in information handled through our authentication provider Clerk, including your name, email address and the sign in identifiers Clerk returns to us.
• Profile and media kit content that creators publish, including sales and audience numbers, platform handles, rates and the brief description a creator writes about their work.
• Campaign, brief and deliverable information that brands and creators share inside the marketplace to plan, fund and review work.
• Payment and payout information processed through Stripe Connect. Payout account details are received by Stripe rather than stored in full on our systems.
• Chat messages and communications delivered through our chat provider Stream, between creators and brands inside Creator Embassy.
• Waitlist information collected before launch, meaning the email address and the audience a visitor picks when they join the waitlist.
• Device, browser and usage information collected through standard log files and the analytics tools listed in this privacy policy.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to run Creator Embassy, to keep creators and brands safe, to honour the commitments in our terms of service, and to improve the product.

• Operating the marketplace, including matching creators and brands, sending invitations, hosting profiles and media kits, and letting campaigns and payments flow.
• Running funded campaigns and payouts, including the records the service providers need to process money and chat.
• Sending waitlist invitations and service messages about your account, your campaigns and the Creator Embassy product.
• Preventing fraud, abuse, and violations of our terms of service, and protecting the safety of creators, brands and staff.
• Measuring and improving the service with analytics, so we can understand which features help and which can be retired.

Cookies and similar technologies

Creator Embassy uses cookies and similar technologies only to keep you signed in and to measure how the service is used. We do not place advertising cookies and we do not sell your information.

• Authentication cookies set by Clerk so you stay signed in across pages.
• Analytics cookies set by the analytics provider listed in this privacy policy, used to count visits and to understand which pages help and which can be retired.
• Standard browser controls apply. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking authentication cookies will sign you out.

How we share information

We share information only as this privacy policy describes. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

• Between creators and brands as needed to run a campaign. This includes public profile content, program membership, and the ratings both sides publish about each other.
• With the service providers that run parts of Creator Embassy, including Clerk for authentication, Stripe for payments, Stream for chat, and an analytics provider.
• To meet a legal obligation, including a valid subpoena, court order or similar request from a government authority, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Creator Embassy, its creators and brands, or others.
• In a business transfer. If Creator Embassy is sold, merged or reorganised, the information we hold may transfer to the new entity under the terms of this privacy policy.

Payments through Stripe Connect

Creator Embassy uses Stripe Connect to process campaign funding and creator payouts. When Stripe processes a payment or a payout, the Stripe terms of service and the Stripe privacy policy govern those services. Stripe handles payout account details and the payment methods the parties add to their accounts.

We do not store full payment card numbers on our systems. We receive the records Stripe shares with us so we can run the marketplace, including the records the product needs to show funded campaigns and approved work.

Chat through Stream

Creator Embassy uses Stream as its chat provider. Messages between creators and brands are processed by Stream as our chat provider. Stream holds the chat records needed to deliver messages and to keep Creator Embassy safe.

Data retention

We keep personal information while the account is active and afterwards as long as we need it for the records listed in this section. The retention period depends on the kind of information and the reason we hold it.

• Account and profile information. Kept while the account is active. After you close the account we keep the records we need for tax, accounting and legal defence for as long as the law requires.
• Campaign, brief and deliverable information. Kept for as long as the campaign record is useful to the parties and afterwards as needed for tax, accounting and legal defence.
• Payment and payout records. Held by Stripe and by us for the period the tax and accounting rules require.
• Chat records through Stream. Held for as long as the conversation is active and afterwards as needed for the records listed above.
• Waitlist records. Kept on the waitlist until removal is requested through the contact email at hello@creatorembassy.com.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information. Examples include access controls on staff systems, encryption in transit and at rest where the data type calls for it, and audit logs for changes to sensitive records.
